Lady GaGa Announces 2nd ‘ARTPOP’ Single
With ‘Applause’ racing towards double Platinum status, chart force Lady GaGa is officially turning her attention to its follow-up.
The singer’s ‘ARTPOP’ LP struts into stores on November 11th, as such no time seems more apt than the present to announce the project’s second and arguably most important single (see: ushering in album release).
Taking to Twitter moments ago, Mother Monster revealed the title of the track, which awaits after the jump…
************
As with all things “GaGa”, the unveiling of the song is likely to be an “event” – one we’re oh so excited for. That said, given the slow, but eventual warm-up to ‘Applause’, we hope Steffani is prepping a track that is more of an instant catch.

Lady GaGa’s ‘Machete Kills’ Role Welcomes Positive Reviews: ‘A Hilarious Touch’
One year before she stars in Sin City‘s sequel, ‘A Dame To Kill For‘, Lady GaGa has joined the cast of her new movie ‘Machete Kills‘ in generating positive reviews aplenty upon the flick’s cinematic release!
Why the ‘Starstruck’ singer is being hailed as one of the movie’s brightest stars?
Review roundup below…
USA Today
There’s no denying the film’s fun spot-the-star cameo challenge: Mel Gibson, Lady Gaga, Sofia Vergara and Michelle Rodriguez must have a fondness for camp and arterial spray, and they infuse Machete with genuine energy.
Lady Gaga, Walton Goggins, Antonio Banderas and Cuba Gooding Jr., all play an assassin named La Camaleón, and their performances are surprisingly consistent.

and a face-shifting assassin called the Chameleon, who’s played at various points by Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas and Lady Gaga in an orange wig (she’s not bad, haters).
Lady Gaga (in her first film) shows unsurprising flair as the Chameleon’s sexiest guise
Originally posted by Kaplan vs. Kaplan
Perhaps Rodriguez’ most interesting development in “Machete Kills” is the role of El Camaleon, played by Cuba Gooding, Jr., Lady Gaga, Walt Goggins and, my personal favorite, Antonio Banderas, who has done six films with Rodriguez. It’s a terrific shtick, especially with Lady Gaga running around in a wolf coat with tangerine hair.
Michelle Rodriguez is back for “taco time” as rebel leader Luz, but she seems tame in comparison to Lady Gaga, who struts sexually as The Chameleon, a villain who can change faces (and genders) at a whim.
And the revolving cast of actors filing extended cameos as the shape-shifting “El Camaleon” is, admittedly, an often hilarious touch.
Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba reprise their roles from the original; Walt Goggins, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas and Lady Gaga all make good with their respective turns as assassins; and “Spy Kids” alumna Alexa Vega finally completes her maturation from child star to ludicrously pneumatic sexpot.
Like a Grindhouse Woody Allen, Rodriguez attracts much talent, albeit off the boil, to his high-turnover cheapies, here once more surrounding Danny Trejo (not actually a terrible actor, but as Machete directed to possess all the charisma of a tree stump) with game-for-a-laugh famous faces in a series of stunt cameos. Which, frankly, are the film’s biggest attraction. Walton Goggins, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas and, yeah, Lady Gaga all appear — playing the same character.
There are tons of other fun parts, with Cuba Gooding Jr, Antonio Banderas, Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Hudgens, Lady Gaga, William Sadler, and more showing up here and there.
The aforementioned President is played by Charlie Sheen – here billed as Carlos Estevez – and having America’s favourite bad-boy show up as the country’s Commander-in-Chief is stunt casting that shouldn’t work but does, with Sheen playing the part straighter than you’d expect. Which is not an accusation that can be leveled at Lady Gaga, who looks like she’s just walked off the set of a Russ Meyer movie as a man-eating assassin, with crazy cascading from her every line delivery.
Jessica Alba does an uncredited and brief reprise of her role from the original Machete movie. In the sequel, we also get Michelle Rodriguez (no relation to the filmmakers) returning as Luz, along with the introduction of Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Alexa Vega, Antonio Banderas, Cuba Gooding Jr., Vanessa Hudgens and even sexy singer Lady Gaga.
Sheen’s role is one of a dozen small parts in Machete Kills that elevate the movie beyond its Z-movie inspirations: Walton Goggins, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Cuba Gooding Jr., and William Sadler show up, get silly (and/or killed), and then depart.

Lady GaGa Confronts Criticism Ahead Of New Single Release / Talks Madonna, Katy Perry And Career ‘Decline’
With only a few hours to go until its release, Lady GaGa‘s ‘Do What You Want‘ has scored an ‘unorthodox’ promotional backing of sorts tonight-thanks to a Twitter outburst from the Italian American Pop sensation.
An outburst, that sees her take on critics who have slammed her alleged spat with Madonna, her supposed Katy Perry induced chart ‘woes’ and her relationship with God.

New Song: Lady Gaga ft. R. Kelly – ‘Do What U Want’
It’s finally here!
‘Do What U Want’ – the newest gem to be lifted from Lady Gaga‘s November 11th-due album ‘ARTPOP’ - has surfaced in full a day before its expected release.
Enlisting R&B royal R. Kelly to play assistant on the bass driven number, does ‘Do’ do the trick as an appropriate follow-up to the album’s megahit first single ‘Applause’?
Tuck in below and tell us:
Gaga is playing approximately no games with ‘ARTPOP’ if ‘Do What U Want’ is any indication of its content. For, while many discount and discredit the diva for her “gimmicks”, her talent can never be negated and the vocal demonstrations in ‘Do’ ring true as proof of that.
A suitable follow-up to ‘Applause’, ‘Do’ sees Gaga venture back into Urban territory to maximize play on many-a-format. Sure to draw comparisons to the likes of fellow pop princesses tapping Urban names for assistance (see: Katy Perry‘s Dark Horse ft. Juicy J, Miley Cyrus), unlike them, Gaga is still very much front-and-center of the tune and lets her voice carry it instead of vice versa.
We like…a lot. Do you?

Lady GaGa Tops iTunes With ‘Do What U Want’
Lady GaGa’s Monsters are playing approximately no games.
For, merely hours after the singer’s new ‘ARTPOP’ promo single ‘Do What U Want’ hit US iTunes, the R. Kelly assisted cut has topped the coveted tally.
Details after the jump…
The delicious track, which fuses Urban, Pop, and Electro, rocketed to the #1 spot during a week that brings with it ‘ARTPOP’s “official” second single ‘Venus’.
Interestingly, by topping iTunes, ‘Do What U Want’ has already achieved a feat the project’s lead single ‘Applause’ didn’t during its entire run (on the American store).
Still, that’s not to take away from the club anthem, which has become quite the quiet smash – holding steady in the top ten for months and becoming Platinum in the process.
Needless to say, we’re oh so amped for the arrival of ‘ARTPOP’ on November 11th. Are you?!

New Song: Lady GaGa – ‘ARTPOP’ (Snippet)
With the countdown to the release of Lady GaGa‘s new album ‘ARTPOP’ in full swing, the Pop force has unwrapped another snippet from the hotly anticipated set.
This time it’s the LP’s title track that fans can preview ahead of the project’s November 11th arrival.
So what are you waiting for? Take a listen after the jump…
Having gravitated to the track during its performance at last month’s iTunes Festival, we’re glad the studio version isn’t far removed sonically.
While we’ll hold the fort until hearing album in its entirety, we must say ‘ARTPOP’ is shaping up to be GaGa’s most sonically cohesive and engaging set in…years.

Lady GaGa Confirms ‘ARTPOP’ Single Switch; ‘Do What U Want’ Replaces ‘Venus’
In a move that has already caused commotion of the positive and opposite persuasion, Lady GaGa is capitalizing on the success of new “promo” single ‘Do What U Want (ft. R. Kelly’) in the most pronounced of ways. This afternoon, the Pop titan confirmed the cut as the official 2nd single to be lifted from her ‘ARTPOP’ album – replacing initially announced choice, 'Venus'.
Details after the jump…
Taking to Twitter, the singer cited the song’s surprise success (see: topping iTunes in over 25 countries) as the main catalyst for the swerve:
*********************
Yes, yes, and yes!
Few things us excite us more than fast-acting artists and labels – a quality GaGa and her team clearly embody.
Of course, ‘Venus’ could be all sorts of blazing. However, why risk diluting the hit they already have on their hands with the uncertain? And with the respectable, yet not blockbuster performance of predecessor ‘Applause’, the album’s second single quite literally needed to smash – especially as it’d be that record ushering in the LP’s November 11th release.
Put simply, we’re all for the switch! An undoubtable ball of fire, we’ve had ‘Do What You Want With Ma Bodeh‘ on replay here at TGJ HQ over the last two days – and by the looks of the charts, so has everyone else.
More power to GaGa! Bring on the video!

Lady Gaga's Ex-Assistant Lawsuit Ends in SettlementLady Gaga and a former personal assistant who sued her won't face off in a New York trial next month after settling their differences.
The settlement in a lawsuit brought by Jennifer O'Neill was revealed Monday in a court order dismissing the case. O'Neill had claimed the singer cheated her out of overtime wages when she worked for her for a few weeks in early 2009 and for 13 months beginning in February 2010.
A trial was scheduled to begin next month. O'Neill had testified she was responsible for sometimes monitoring the singer's communications and for handling about 20 bags of luggage.
Court papers revealed that Lady Gaga and O'Neill were roommates and friends on the Lower East Side of Manhattan before 2008. Lawyers did not immediately comment.
Lawyers had notified U.S. District Judge Paul G. Gardephe on Friday that they were close to a settlement.
