If you haven't already heard, on August 4, 2010 a Federal Judge in San Francisco, CA has ruled that Proposition 8: the ban on same sex marriage in California has been overturned. Deemed Unconstitutional and that it violates the US Constitution. We already knew it was unconstitutional from the beginning and this only proves one point: Equality is for everyone. Not just Heterosexuals. This doesn't mean that gays and lesbians can get married in California just yet, but it means that we've won a major victory for Equality in all of America. The decision of course is going to appealed by the Prop 8 committee and will then head on to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. From there it can go to the US Supreme Court. It isn't very often the US Supreme Court gets a juicy case like this, so chances our, they will review it. On a personal note, as a gay man in California, I want to say thank you to those who have been supportive of Equal Rights for all. And now I'm stepping off my soap box.

Judge Vaughn Walker announced today that the stay on Prop 8 will be lifted on August 18, 2010 at 5pm. I'm so happy that the stay is being lifted and that once again, be an EQUAL member of society. I'm so happy!
