Rihanna's "Man Down" Video Draws Fire From Parents Television Council It appears the Parents Television Council have declared a vendetta against Pop DIVA Rihanna. Only two weeks ago they branded her Billboard Music Award performance as a "stripper show," and now the board have come against her video for new single "Man Down."TMZ report that the PTC have branded the video as a "cold, calculated execution of murder," going onto declare, “If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass.”The council is all the more outraged that Rihanna tweeted her fans that the video contained, "a very strong underlying message 4 girls like me."The concept for the video was obviously set to raise eyebrows, the mentioning of Chris Brown’s name in the PTC’s official statement will have many RiRi fans questioning the organization’s true motives. Rihanna Defends "Man Down" Video Rihanna is defending her latest music video, which opens with a man being shot in the head. "Man Down,"which premiered Tuesday on BET, is a song about a girl who shoots her abuser in public. The video also portrays sexual assault. On Tuesday, the Parents Television Council called the clip "disturbing" and asked BET to stop airing it. Rihanna said the video is "art with a message." She added, "We just wanted to hone in on a very serious matter that people are afraid to address, especially if you've been victimized in this scenario."BET says it will continue to play the video, explaining that the network "has a comprehensive set of standards and guidelines that are applied to all of our content" and that Rihanna's video "complied with these guidelines and was approved for air."MTV hasn't played the video. A MTV representative said they're "in the process of reviewing the video."Source
