Yea, I did noticed how really thin she was during Back to basics. I'm really glad that this time Christina decides to follow her instincts and not let people tell her how her body should look. Christina Aguilera On Weight Gain: “You Are Working With A Fat Girl…Get Over It” For the last two years, much ado has been made about Christina Aguilera‘s notable weight gain. Indeed, after spending much of her career as a petite Pop star, recent times have seen Aguilera sport a more voluptuous figure. Predictably, the singer’s curvier frame has become a public Hot Topic; with some defending her right to be her, while others charge that Pop stars are ultimately selling products (“themselves”) and should put their best foot (or in this case, “weight”) forward. Never one to hold her tongue, Xtina has addressed the issue head-on in the latest edition of Billboard magazine. Lets just say, her response makes for an intriguing and telling read. Her words after the jump… On Her Body Issues In The Past: “During the promotion of my album Stripped [in 2002], I got tired of being a skinny, white girl. I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl. The next time my label saw me, I was heavier, darker and full of piercings! [Laughs] Let me tell you, that wasn’t an easy pill for them to swallow. I had gained about 15 pounds during promotion and during my Stripped tour [with Justin Timberlake, 31]. They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight. Basically, they told me I would effect a lot of people if I gained weight — the production, musical directors. [They claimed] people I toured with would also miss out if I gained weight because I would sell no records or tickets for my shows, I was young, so I lost the weight quickly and was toothpick thin during Back to Basics promos and touring.” On “Re-Claiming” Her Body: ”I told them during this Lotus recording, ‘You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it.’ They need a reminder sometimes that I don’t belong to them. It’s my body, My body can’t put anyone in jeopardy of not making money anymore—my body is just not on the table that way anymore.” On Her New Album ‘Lotus’: ”This album represents a celebration of the new me, and to me the lotus has always represented this unbreakable flower that withstands any harsh weather conditions in its surroundings, that withstands time and remains beautiful and strong throughout the years. Once I could start writing my own songs, beginning with Stripped, I tried to infuse as much as I could to promote strength and inspire people with that message. And now I’m at a place at 31, where the last time I felt this way was when I was 21 with Stripped and I had a lot to say and a lot to express.” ********** Go Xtina! For us, the importance doesn’t lie with the size of her waist; it lies with maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So long as she’s doing that, she has every right to say what did to Billboard. Unfortunately, we’re in era where image outranks talent. Hence to sustain, it’s important Christina (whatever her size) continues to show that she’s happy, healthy, and most importantly, still able to deliver when and where it matters. She’s already done that with the stellar ‘Your Body’ video, it’s now a case of continuing along that path as she heads into her ‘Lotus’ promotional run. All else aside, we’re still holding out for some killer choreography at some point during this campaign… ThatGrapeJuice I like her when she's full figured.

Christina Aguilera Talks ‘Lotus’, Media Portrayal And Mariah Carey For ‘Billboard’For Christina Aguilera fans, the arrival of her new LP ‘Lotus‘ couldn’t come a day too soon, following the explosive launch of its lead single ‘Your Body‘. Set for release on November 9th, the project took center stage yesterday upon the singer’s arrival at Billboard‘s ‘Film & TV Music Conference’ where she spoke with the company’s edititorial director Bill Werde on anything and everything. Excerpts from their convo below… On her purpose in the world: “Sometimes you just know what you’re placed on this earth to do.”Through my childhood I had sort of a chaotic past and upbringing. Music came as a sort of release and escape. Inevitably, you’re going to stray toward that path. I started out as a wedding singer singing at block parties at 6, 7 years old.
Then came ‘Star Search.’ That was my first big break at 7 years old. Ed McMahon couldn’t say my name right.” On how she is portrayed in the media: “It’s hard being such a powerful woman in the business. I’m known for not always being warm and fuzzy, because you’ll just get bulldozed over. You learn to put up this little protective shield, but it’s because of something. In my music, I come off as being very open about being insecure, vulnerable and sensitive sometimes. Then I’ll go onstage and be this powerhouse force to be reckoned with. It’s all about that balance. These 6-year-olds weren’t around when I had ‘Genie in a Bottle’ and ‘Fighter’.They are watching me in this big red chair giving advice. There’s a lot of auto tune going on now and that’s all great, it’s an art form. But what’s great about ‘The Voice’ [is that] it’s just raw, real talent.” On her Linda Perry penned cut ‘Beautiful‘: “Linda Perry is raw, she’s real and she intimidates a lot of grown men. She’s amazing. I was having a really bad day. I came into her studio. It was at her house at the time. I was working with her on a bunch of stuff. She just kind of sat down at her piano in her dining room and started singing. Don’t do all that Mariah sh-’ — that was her, not me, I love that sh–!” she clarified. “But she was like ‘don’t be doing all that acrobatic sh–, just sing!’” She then went onto explain how ‘Lotus’ differs from earlier releases, sharing: ‘I’m a message girl at the end of the day. Songs like ‘Beautiful,’ songs like ‘Fighter.’ They’re very introverted and can be very vulnerable but empowering. I was tired of singing about fluff and candy and Genie in a Bottle.” “It’s embracing the woman that I’ve grown to be and embracing myself, full circle, as a pop star. Being on ‘The Voice’ has made me realize it. And being face to face with my superstar little popstar team on ‘The Voice’ has been inspiring and inspires me.
It’s made me come full circle and appreciate the journey of the last decade-plus. I chose Lotus because it represents the unbreakable flower that stands the test of time.” …and this ladies & gentlemen is why we have high hopes for ‘Lotus’. Though we are a little worried about promo as far as performances go, outings like these are sure to give fans even more of an incentive to pick it up. Here’s hoping the coming week sees the arrival of a new video and the long awaited ‘Your Body’ live showing. Source. Photo source.ThatGrapeJuice

Christina Aguilera Flaunts New Slim-Line Figure / Talks ‘Huge’ Album Promo At Samsung EventSince the release of Christina Aguilera‘s scorching new single ‘Your Body’ last month, relative silence has greeted those eager to know the singer’s next promotional move. Indeed, with less than three weeks until the song’s housing album ‘Lotus’ hits stores, many have been scratching their heads as to just what the “plan” is. Where are the performances? Major TV spots? New single(s)? An American Music Awards ‘Lotus’ showcase has been announced, yet this takes place after the album arrives. Well, according to Christina, fans should fret not. For, speaking at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note II in Los Angeles last night, the superstar diva -who was rocking a noticeably leaner frame- promised a “huge” promotional push for the hotly anticipated LP. Her video interview and pics await after the jump… Awesome. As any industry enthusiast would echo, a solid campaign is usually 65% promo / 35% material. Hence, so long as Team Xtina have her at the opening of a door (aka Mariah Carey “Emancipation” ’05 promo), she should be good. She’s increasingly looking in great performance shape too, which makes the prospect of new live showings even more exciting. Xtina always puts it down. ThatGrapeJuice

Hot Shot: Christina Aguilera Blossoms In New ‘Lotus’ Promo With exactly two weeks remaining until Christina Aguilera‘s ‘Lotus’ LP arrives in stores, promo shots for the hotly anticipated set have begun to treacle out. And while the shot above only adds to our anticipation for the album, we’re still scratching our heads as to the “strategy” with the record’s push. After all, while it’s clear Christina has a deal that contracts her to perform new material on The Voice first (much like fellow coach Adam Levine), the silence surrounding the push for ‘Your Body’ and ‘Lotus’ moreover is deafening (AMA performance, aside). Here’s hoping it’s more a case of “calm before the storm”, as all signs are pointing to the material on ‘Lotus’ being hot tamale and it’d be criminal if it wasn’t given the premium push it deserves. New Song: Christina Aguilera – ‘Blank Page’
It’s finally here! After receiving rave reviews from critics (including yours truly) who were fortunate enough to hear her new LP ‘Lotus’ this week, Christina Aguilera releases the stunning number ‘Blank Page‘. Prepare to moved below…
With a voice that sometimes runs the risk of being strained, Aguilera shines brightest on cuts like these, boasting a conviction and restraint that makes for a moving listen, even if you don’t consider yourself to be a fan. ‘Hurt‘ without being ‘Hurt’, ‘Blank Page’ is undoubtedly the strongest piece on the project, standing strong as a ‘Classic Christina’ cut without ever sounding dated or cliche. With ‘Lotus’ due out on the 9th, we’d say this is the perfect ‘commercial’ for a project which has no choice but to score critical acclaim with numbers as strong as this on board. In short, we love it and hope there are plans to throw it on iTunes like…now!
