Alicia Keys Praises Frank Ocean’s ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’At the forefront of R&B’s new wave of ‘reflective’ maestros comes Frank Ocean, storming the charts in July with his debut album ‘Channel Orange‘. However, before the launching the Def Jam backed release, it was his 2011 mix tape ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ that forced his brand into the public’s psyche, winning fans from all walks of creative life. One of these fans, being ‘Girl On Fire’ chanteuse Alicia Keys who has listed the release as one of her favorite albums of all time. Her words below…. On the 14 track piece, Keys explained: “Frank Ocean is someone who has this great storytelling style that really takes you from the beginning to the end and helps to open my mind to ways of relaying an emotion. Whenever I play this record it reminds me of my first anniversary, driving in a vintage Corvette that we rented. We blasted the album the whole way. Some of my favorites are ‘Swim Good’ and the lyrics of the song ‘We All Try’ always move me. It’s such a hopeful song with deep sentiment—at the heart of it, we’re all trying to do our best. And that’s so true.”Find out who else made ‘Alicia Key’s 25 Favorite Albums’ here!ThatGrapeJuice

The Predictions Are In: Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’ Set To Sell…Easily one of the year’s biggest Urban releases, Alicia Keys‘ latest studio album ‘Girl On Fire’ has been backed by a gurantuan promotional campaign; one which has taken the Grammy winner to many a stage globally. Naturally, then, all eyes are on how the LP fares in the singer’s biggest market – the US. And now, with the help of Hits Daily Double, we’re able to provide a clearer picture of how the album is selling on home soil. Ms. Keys’ first week predictions await after the jump… According to the ever-reliable HDD, ‘Fire’ is set to blaze straight to the top of the Billboard 200 next week with sales of… 150,000 – 175,000 ;D While commendable given the current sales climate, the numbers are a marked decrease from the 417,000 copies Keys’ last album ‘The Element Of Freedom’ opened with in 2009. In fact, should the project open with sales in the said region, it would serve as the 31 year old’s lowest selling debut (for a traditional release) – ever. For, even her first effort ‘Songs In A Minor’ premiered with sales of 236,000 in 2001. We’ll save “two cents” for when the final numbers roll in. Still, though… ThatGrapeJuice

Alicia Keys Aiming for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart? Alicia Keys' new album "Girl On Fire" is set to earn the highest debut next week on the Billboard 200 chart -- with a No. 1 bow likely. However, Rod Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby" might spoil Keys' party with a post-Thanksgiving sales surge. Industry sources suggest Keys' set, which hit retailers on Nov. 27, might sell between 145,000 to 170,000 by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Dec. 2. It was the only major new release this past week that will sell a number that large. Standing in Keys' way is Stewart's first holiday set, which sold 117,000 last week according to Nielsen SoundScan. As we've seen in the past, Christmas album sales grow larger in the weeks following Thanksgiving, and Stewart's should be no exception. Source
