Kelly Clarkson Gears Up For 'Stronger' 2012 Tour



Kelly Clarkson will spend the first three months of 2012 on the road in the North America supporting her latest studio album,"Stronger."

The pop star announced the first leg of her Stronger Tour 2012 on Monday (Nov. 14), with singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson serving as support.

The tour kicks off Jan. 13, 2012, in Mashantucket, Conn., before wrapping up in San Diego on April 10th. Tickets go on sale beginning Friday.

"Stronger," the former "American Idol" winner's fifth full-length, has sold 214,000 copies since its October release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The disc's first single, "Mr. Know It All,"hit No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the singer her ninth Top 10 single.

Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’ Sales Spike After Ron Paul Endorsement



Kelly Clarkson has proven that any publicity is good publicity, after a Twitter endorsement of a Republican Presidential candidate resulted in her album 'Stronger' experiencing a huge spike in sales.

Kelly recently tweeted her support for the conservative Presidential candidate Ron paul, which resulted in Kelly receiving a barrage of criticism from her angry followers, leaving the American Idol star to profusely defend herself against claims that she’s a racist and homophobe.

Kelly may have lost a few long-time fans over the drama, but by the next morning sales of 'Stronger' had spiked 192% on Amazon, while the album climbed up to No. 13 on iTunes official albums chart (it’s now #15).

Ron Paul supporters are to thank for the sales increase, flocking to Kelly in droves and leaving comments on Amazon.com and iTunes, like: “I must admit I have not really followed you but your recent stance on Ron Paul made me check you out.”

Kelly Clarkson's "Ron Paul Sales Bump" Debunked



Kelly Clarkson's endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Dec. 28th may have helped draw attention to the original "American Idol" champion, but despite multiple reports from other news sites, it did little to help the sales of her "Stronger" album.

According to both Nielsen SoundScan data and sources in the know at Clarkson's label, RCA, little evidence exists to support the theory that Clarkson's praise for Paul helped her sales.

In fact, her album sales actually dropped when compared with the previous week.

In the week that ended on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, "Stronger" sold 40% fewer copies than it did the previous week (25,000, as opposed to 41,000 in the week before Christmas). And while it moved from No. 39 to No. 17 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, its upward momentum this week was caused by it having a less-steep decline in sales as compared to the rest of the titles on the chart. Its total sales stand at 451,000 after 10 weeks.

In other words, it wasn't Clarkson's political preferences that pushed digital sales of "Stronger" -- its $7.99 sale price (which was matched by AmazonMP3) and iTunes' advertising were the real reasons behind the gain. Those spikes were usually cited as evidence of the sales gain in the "Ron Paul Sales Bump" articles.

Kelly Clarkson Set To Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl



American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, is set to perform at America's most popular sporting event: the Super Bowl.

Clarkson has been chosen to sing the national anthem before the NFL championship game at Indianapolis on Feb. 5th, a person familiar with Super Bowl entertainment plans told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because no announcement has been made. The league is expected to reveal the anthem singer later this month.

Also slated to participate in the Super Bowl pregame festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium: country music couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, singing "America the Beautiful."

The NFL announced in December that Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Madonna, along with rappers M.I.A and Nicki Minaj, will perform at halftime of the league's title game.

Kelly Clarkson's Latest Single Slowly Climbs Up The Charts



Just like “Mr. Know It All,” Kelly Clarkson‘s latest tune “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)” is on its way to becoming her second sleeper hit.

After originally getting off to a slow start, the single is now No. 4 on the US iTunes chart. It’s also making rapid gains at radio, most recently shooting into the top thirty of Mediabase’s Top Forty Airplay chart.

The late success can be attributed to a few different things. First, there’s the whole Ron Paul scandal, that nabbed Kelly the most publicity she’s had in years.

Then there’s also Kelly’s recent stint on Saturday Night Live, which saw her deliver a killer performance of “What Doesn’t Kill You.” And most surprisingly, the new single was only officially serviced to radio this week.

With “What Doesn’t Kill You” now racing up the charts, it’s safe to say that Kelly’s 'Stronger' will have at least produced two big hits before its run is up.

Kelly Clarkson Scores 2nd Top 10 With “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”



“Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” the second single off of Kelly Clarkson‘s fifth studio album 'Stronger,' has just leaped from No.21 to No.8 on the Billboard Hot 100, meaning that this is Kelly’s second Top 10 hit from the new album.

As with the slow burn success of “Mr. Know It All,” “Stronger” climbed at radio (and digital) for several weeks before finally bursting into the Top 10 this week.

With “Mr. Know It All,” the first single from her album “Stronger,” having peaked at No. 10, Clarkson posts her first back-to-back Hot 100 top 10s (excluding last month’s “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” which was not actively promoted to radio) since the first four singles from her album “Breakaway” hit the top tier consecutively in 2004-05.

Adele Atop Hot 100, But Kelly Clarkson Getting 'Stronger' at No. 2



Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" spends a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, just holding off a furious push from Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," which bounds from No. 8 to No. 2.

As Adele's set "21" leads the Billboard 200 album chart for an 18th week, "Fire" tallies a second frame atop the Hot 100, fueled largely by its 5-4 advance on the Radio Songs chart (118 million audience impressions, up 12%, according to Nielsen BDS).

Clarkson's "Stronger" is aptly titled, as the second single from her album "Stronger" vaults 8-2 with top Digital Gainer honors. The song surges by 29% to 225,000 downloads sold and ascends 3-1 on Digital Songs, marking Clarkson's second leader on the sales ranking.

Her "My Life Would Suck Without You" spent two weeks at No. 1 on Digital Songs three years ago this month.

Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” rockets to No. 2 on this week’s Hot 100, narrowly missing out on the top spot thanks to the almighty Adele and her latest monster hit “Set Fire to the Rain.”

The power of Adele just stopped Lana Del Rey’s 'Born to Die' from topping the Billboard 200, and now Kelly is suffering the same fate, but unlike Lana, Kelly still has a fighting chance at nabbing that No. 1 spot.

The biggest wedge between Kelly and that No.1 right now is airplay. While “Stronger” was the top selling digital song this week with 225,000 copies, “Set Fire to the Rain” still managed to cling to the top off of strong airplay.

Kelly’s making rapid gains at radio, but so is Adele, and she’s already much further ahead, so Kelly’s going to need those big digital sales if she wants “Stronger” to become her third chart topping single.

Kelly Clarkson Scores Third Number One with "Stronger"!



Kelly Clarkson‘s latest single “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” jumps No.2 to No.1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

The second official single from her fifth studio album, Stronger, becomes the original American Idol champion’s third chart topper ever.

The 29-year-old singer-songwriter first top the list with her coronation song “A Moment Like This” for two weeks back in 2002. Kelly then returned strong with “My Life Would Suck Without You” for two weeks beginning this week in 2009.

Billboard reports, “Stronger” soars to the Hot 100′s top spot with top Airplay Gainer honors, charging 33-15 on the Radio Songs chart and also spends a second week at No.1 on the Digital Song chart.

And while Kelly enjoys success on the Hot 100, her album sales are also looking good, with 'Stronger' now having shifted 570,000 copies in the US to date.

Kelly Clarkson Eyes “Dark Side” For Next Single



During a new interview with Z100, Kelly Clarkson confirmed that the utterly amazing “Dark Side” is likely to be the third single from her Gold-certified album 'Stronger.'

“Dark Side” will serve as the follow-up to “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”, which is currently No. 1 on both the Hot 100 and the United World Singles Chart. It’s also still rising at U.S. radio, so its run is far from up yet!

“Dark Side” is really the perfect third single from Stronger. “Let Me Down” is too rocky, and “I Forgive You” is too obvious and safe right now, and will serve better being released towards the end of Kelly’s album cycle.

“Dark Side” is perfect for radio, it’s got a unique message that people can relate to, and it’s in prime position to smash now that the success of “Stronger” has gotten everybody back on team Kelly.
