Kelly Clarkson's 'Duets' Joins The Singing Competition War ABC makes its entree into singing competitions with the nine-week series "Duets," adding yet another twist to the "Idol" model. The catch with "Duets" is that four professional artists -- Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles and Robin Thicke -- not only coach two contestants each, but also perform duets with them. The show, which debuted Thursday night (May 24), taped the first five two-hour episodes earlier in the month. Four weeks of live shows begin June 28, and the ultimate winner will receive a contract with Hollywood Records, which, like ABC, is owned by Disney. Clarkson says ABC executives first approached her at an awards show and convinced her that the new series would celebrate creative pairings of different artists. "The best parts of awards shows are collaborations," she says, "and I love that they have based a whole show on that collaborative process."Source

Kelly Clarkson: 'I Have No Desire To Be Super-Skinny' Kelly Clarkson has plenty advice for her Duets partners on how to perform like a music superstar. And now she's revealing how she got that slimmer figure. "I do cardio. I run. I strength-train using my own body weight," the first American Idol winner tells Redbook for its July issue. "I don't like free weights, because I build muscle easily."Clarkson, 30, points out that shaping up is all about finding what's right for you. "Really, what I try to instill in my fans is to be healthy and happy," she says. "I have no desire to be super-skinny."As for imparting tips to up-and-coming singers on her show, she says she's giving the Duets contestants something she never had on Idol. "I'm going to be completely honest – I had no one looking out for me. They were looking out for the show, and it was horrible," she says. "I was 19 years old. I was smart enough to know that it wasn't about me, but that didn't make it any easier. I'm all cried out about it, but my first four years, I hated my life; I almost quit a dozen times."Source

Kelly Clarkson’s Already Working On Next Album After staging a successful comeback by releasing one last year’s best pop albums and topping the charts with her super smash “Stronger,” Kelly Clarkson has started work on her next studio album. No release date has been set yet, but Kelegend’s confirmed that she’s already recorded an “amazing song” with “I Forgive You” producer Darkchild that she “can’t wait for everybody to hear.” Although Kelly’s only just officially confirmed that she’s recording again, there’s been a couple of hints floating around lately that have had fans suspicious that she’s been back in the studio. Last month, Kelly jokingly complained to Us Weekly that her new relationship (she’s currently dating Reba McEntire’s stepson Brandon Blackstock) has ruined her creativity, causing her to write “happy nuts” instead of her usual gutsy anthems, while in a recent article about Ester Dean in The New Yorker, managers of generic production duo Stargate let slip that Kelly Clarkson is on the hunt for new songs.
