Mariah Carey’s "#Beautiful" Shoots Up The Billboard Charts In Debut Week"#Beautiful" by Mariah Carey featuring Miguel enters the Hot 100 at #24. It enters Hot Digital Songs at #10, with first-week sales of 114K. It's Carey's eighth top 10 hit on the digital sales chart; her first since "Obsessed" nearly four years ago. "#Beautiful" is vying to become Carey's 29th top 10 hit on the Hot 100; her first since "Obsessed" hit #7 in September 2009. It's vying to become the first top 10 hit for Miguel, the highly-touted R&B singer whose breakout hit "Adorn" climbed as high as #17. The casting on this record is ideal. Carey is a household name with a long string of hits. Miguel is far less well-known, but there's probably more heat and buzz on him within the industry "# Beautiful" will appear on Carey's 11th (non-holiday) studio album, which is due this summer. Miguel & Rodney Jerkins Talk New Mariah MusicSuper producer Rodney Jerkins spoke with The Source about working with Mariah Carey for her upcoming new album. Here's what he had to say: "Mariah's great. We had a chance to write together and it was really cool. She's a pro, she's a real pro and relatable, too. She has two children, two beautiful kids and we got a chance to really get to know her and Nick and the kids doing this project and they just bring that class act family and you know it's good to have friends like that."Miguel had a "beautiful" time working with Mariah Carey on their hit single. Following the release of "#Beautiful," the 27-year-old singer dished about what it was like to work with the music superstar on the track. "She's kind of one of the most quick witted and sharp individuals I've ever met," Miguel told us at Wango Tango. "You never know how it's gonna be with another creative individual and how their creative process works with yours, but it was definitely one of the coolest and easiest sessions I've ever done with another artist." "Everything she does is very deliberate, which is refreshing," he continued. "She knows exactly what she wants and what she's doing, and the fact that she chose to keep me on the record speaks volumes." Source

Watch: Mariah Carey Performs On ‘Good Morning America’ Summer Concert SeriesToday saw Mariah Carey kick off the Good Morning America ’Summer Concert Series’ — diva style. Backed by a full band, the ‘#Beautiful’ singer rocked the crowd of thousands with her latest hit (bringing along guest Miguel). Premium Mimi also gave a nostalgic nod to her catalogue of classics, performing ‘Always Be My Baby’ and ‘We Belong Together’. How did she fare? The answer awaits after the jump! Hmm… We love us some Mimi, but no, no, and no to those vocals. It’s “Mariah”, so even on her worst day, rare moments of brilliance will shine through. However, in one too many instances here, she sounded like she was gargling concrete. Again, we adore Mariah as much as the next, yet we’re dealing with facts here — her voice wasn’t up to par. Interestingly, Ms. Carey-Cannon now has this consistent habit of blaming the sound, her mic, or her dress for the so-so’ness of her modern-day performances. However, the more she tries to conceal this with a giggle and a laugh, the more apparent her performing “issues” become. Harsh sounding? Perhaps. Yet when, like Mimi, you throw your hat into the rat race that is today’s charts, the said artist opens themselves up for the same critique everyone else gets. As such, for yours truly, the inevitable “she has nothing left to prove” BS is just that…BS. Here’s hoping future showings get better from here on out! Update: Check out the performance of ‘We Belong Together’ below. Much better, but we’re gonna need Mimi to stop clowning with that lip-synched climax. Or at least be less with obvious with it. Kai. Miguel Brings Out Mariah Carey at 2013 Hot 97 Summer JamEarlier today, the blogosphere bubbled with reports that Mariah Carey would join Miguel during his set at the 2013 Hot 97 Summer Jam show and to their fans’ glee, the news was true! However, the diva wasn’t the only surprise to hit the stage. J. Cole also rocked the crowd with a short yet enjoyable performance. Miguel sang several of his songs, including “How Many Drinks?” and “girl thingy is Mine”, and was joined J. Cole for a rendition of their latest collaboration, “Power Trip”. Unfortunately, their showing caused a lull that only picked up when Miguel belted out his monster hit “Adorn”. Of course, the true highlight of the evening when Miguel introduced Carey, who strutted into the spotlight in her signature heels and mini shorts. What the diva didn’t bring with her, however, was her backtrack and she opted to sing their entire “#Beautiful” duet live. That’s right, every note was belted and whistled without the aid of a backtrack, and Carey even added a few extra riffs to the arrangement to ensure that we knew she was singing live. Sounds too good to be true? Watch Miguel, Cole and Carey in action below: Carey’s belting isn’t as smooth as it once was but it’s great to hear her singing her whistles again, especially given her recent rounds of lip-syncing. “#Beautiful” isn’t the most exciting song in a live setting – the bored look on the audience members’ faces confirmed that – and the only segment of the tune that grabs people’s attention is the climax of high notes. So, Carey used the right moment to remind the crowd of why she is still one of the best singers on the music scene today. The Lava Lizard

Mommy Love: Mariah Carey Poses With Mom Patricia & Daughter Monroe Mariah Carey may be a diva, yet the songstress certainly knows how to tug at the heartstrings. The 43-year-old, who is riding high from the success of new single ‘#Beautiful’, shared this warming snap of her enjoying a “festive” moment with mother Patricia Carey and two-year-old daughter Monroe Carey-Cannon. As Mimi’s ever-loyal Lambs know, the singer learnt her craft from Patricia – who is an Opera vocalist. In other Mariah news, fresh reports suggest her upcoming album may hit stores sooner than expected. Current pencilled-in dates suggest a Summer release is imminent. ThatGrapeJuice

Mariah Carey Announces Album Release Date‘The New Era Begins’.If the last few months have taught us anything, it’s that Mariah Carey's new management team are geniuses…seriously. For, in not playing into the idea that her name alone was enough to sell her new material, her camp crafted a radio driven campaign that has seen her win the hearts of an audience far too removed from the 90s to truly appreciate her art. Now, as her new single ‘Beautiful’ continues to soar across the globe, Ms. Carey has announced the release date of its supporting album. Find out when that it is below! Yes! If the cuts on this album fall in line with Adult Contemporary vibe ‘Beautiful’ serves, it’s safe to say Mimi is onto a critical win. Of course, the only thing stopping her from scoring sales her legacy is deserving of are performances of the ‘Good Morning America’ persuasion, and a campaign that assumes there are enough die hard ' Lambs' left to secure her Drake-esque first week digits. Basically, it’ll be how well her team win over the casual listener that will decide whether this LP sinks or swims commercially. Fortunately, with ‘Beautiful’ already one of the year’s biggest hits, we doubt she has anything to worry about. ThatGrapeJuice

Watch: will.i.am Slams Mariah Carey’s Voice On ‘The Voice’?Viewers of The Voice UK are well-versed in the fact that will.i.am is notorious for saying his mind. However, the hitmaker and “coach” on the show sparked social media debate tonight following controversial comments made about diva Mariah Carey while praising favourite-to-win Leah McFall. See what went down after the jump… {will.i.am to Leah McFall : “If Mariah Carey heard you sing, she’d be like “Dang, I wish I could sing like that still”} Naturally, will’s words sparked outrage amongst Mimi’s ever-loyal Lambs, who took to Twitter in their thousands to write comments such as…. As for our two-cents on the matter, we’re somewhat torn. On the one hand, Mariah is musical royalty, hence his comments -whether intended as such or not- were always going to be decoded as “shade”. That said, isn’t he saying just what those with ears and no bias have been thinking for years? Weigh in below… Your thoughts? ThatGrapeJuice
