SOLD! Madonna’s Cone Bras Go For $52K In auction news, two of Madonna’s iconic bras sold for $77,000 at Christies in London, according to The Guardian. Both looks were designed by Jean Paul Gaultier and worn by the Material Girl on her 1990 Blond Ambition tour. A candy striped embroidered bra with sequins was bought by an unnamed buyer for around $52,000. The same buyer also spent approximately $26,000 on a two-piece bustier outfit with the conical cups. The corsets were originally only expected to fetch between $16,000 and $24,000. Source

Madonna Meets 'Johnnie Walker's Keep Walking Project' Finalist Madonna met graffiti artist Simone Sapienza aka Siss last Tuesday, backstage at Morumbi Stadium right before her MDNA show in São Paulo. Simone was the only woman among the Johnnie Walker's Keep Walking project finalist, and it's not by chance that her own work was a tribute to the women's strenght itself. Siss adapted one of her signature graffiti art, creating a Madonna Wonder Woman holding two spray cans, replacing the iconic face of Linda Carter with the one of the Queen of Pop herself. Giovanni Bianco, Madonna's art director and collaborator for eight years said: "Siss was very sensitive in capturing the song's idea and Madonna's pop world in her language. She captured something from the streets and from Madonna. It was very clever."The "Superstar" 2-track CD single was distributed for free with each copy of the Folha de S.Paulo last Monday. The Eddie Amador Remix, the b-side to the single, can be downloaded for free as Madonna & Johnnie Walker are treating their fans with 10,000 free downloads of the remix, available until December 12. The Latest "Madonna" Waxwork Revealed at Madame Tussauds Nearly three decades have passed since Madonna sang Like a Virgin in a trashy lace wedding dress. But if her latest waxwork is to be believed, the singer has got younger in the intervening years, not older. Unveiled at Madame Tussauds yesterday, three new figurines showed her looking more toned and wrinkle free at 54 than when she was 26. Depicting Madonna at different stages in her career, the flattering life-size models show she has lost none of her power to shock. But without the distinctive costumes, it would be impossible to tell the modern day mother-of-four from the singer as provocative 1980s superstar. Madame Tussauds senior sculptor David Burks said the models show how gracefully Madonna has aged. He said: "She is doing well for her age. She looks good for a 54 year old. It’s nice seeing the three models together. You don’t normally see them side by side. It is nice seeing the three eras and three looks in one place."Source

Madonna's No. 1 Status Is Written In Her MDNA Touring proves the key to success in this year's version of Calendar's Ultimate Top 10 ranking of pop stars' concert and recording sales. The ranking combines income from recordings as well as the concert box office to show who had the most lucrative years according to numbers reported by Nielsen SoundScan and the concert industry-tracking publication Pollstar. Since the Ultimate Top 10 began in 1998, there's often been a sizable split between the acts that make their nut from touring and those earning most of their money at physical and virtual cash registers from recordings. The result: No 1. Madonna, $144 million. The queen of reinvention had the highest-grossing tour worldwide (MDNA) with $296.1 million, so it's no surprise that she was tops in North America too, thanks to $133.7 million from 45 shows in 31 cities. Like other 1970s and '80s acts that made the Top 10, a much smaller share of her Ultimate total came from digital track sales — just $2.1 million compared with $8.2 million for physical and digital album sales. Madonna's 'MDNA' Tour Makes Billboard Boxscore's All-Time Top 10The final numbers are in, and Madonna's 2012 "MDNA" tour has retained her box office form, clocking in at $305,158,363 gross with 2,212,345 in attendance over 88 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore. The tour began in Israel last May 31 and finished in Argentina on Dec. 22, hitting Europe, Asia and North America in between. The "MDNA" final box office tally is enough to rank "MDNA" No. 10 all-time in tours as reported to Boxscore, sandwiched between the Rolling Stones' "Licks" tour of 2002-2003 ($311 million) and the Stones' "Bridges To Babylon" tour of 1997-98 ($274 million). This is Madonna's second time in the Boxscore Top 10; the "Sticky & Sweet" tour of 2008-09 was third all-time at $408 million, the highest ever for a solo artist. Her 2006 "Confessions" tour came in at $194 million. All of these tours, including "MDNA," were produced by Live Nation's Global Touring division, headed by LNGT chairman Arthur Fogel, who offhandedly predicted to Billboard back in April that MDNA would end up a Boxscore Top 10 tour. "MDNA" highlights were many, with the run through South America being notably successful. The five highest Boxscores on the tour were: - Estadio Atanasio Gerardo in Medellin, Colombia, Nov. 28-29 ($14.7 million gross, 90,018 attendance) - Yankee Stadium in New York Sept. 6 and 8($12.6 million, 79,775) - Foro Sol in Mexico City Nov. 24-25 ($11.6 million,84,382) - Estadio Rive Plate in Buenos Aires ($10.8 million, 89,226) - Estadio do Morumbi in Sao Paulo Dec. 4-5 ($8.4 million, 85,255) In North America, "MDNA" did best -- not counting Yankee Stadium -- at: - Plains of Abraham in Quebec Sept. 1 ($8 million, 70,569) - Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Sept. 12-13 ($7.5 million, 32,557) - The MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Oct. 13-14 ($7.2 million, 24,991) - The Staples Center in Los Angeles Oct. 10-11 ($6.2 million, 29,015).

Madonna Still Reigns Super Bowl Halftime Show Queen ;D Beyoncé seemed destined to break Madonna's record for the most-watched Super Bowl haltime show in history, based on the relentless hype alone. There were the behind-the-scenes photos. The rehearsal videos. The psuedo-controversies about whether she'd perform live. The terribly-kept rumors about a Destiny's Child reunion onstage. But it appears that Queen Bey has not yet dethroned the Queen of Pop. Beyoncé pulled in about 100 million U.S. viewers on Sunday evening — a considerable feat, to be sure. But the number looks a little less impressive when one considers that in 2012, 116 million tuned in to watch Madonna, surpassing the 95.7 million who watched Bruce Springsteen in 2009. The half-hour that included Beyonce’s performance at Super Bowl XLVII was one of the most watched segments of the NFL championship on Sunday, hitting an average of about 104 million viewers, Billboard estimates, based on Nielsen data. Nielsen estimated 108.41 million viewers tuned in for the Super Bowl, making it the third-most-watched program in television history behind Super Bowl XLVI and Super Bowl XLV. Nielsen, heeding CBS’s request, is not counting the 34-minute power outage delay in its ratings. Source

Beyonce: “There Aren’t Enough Women Like Madonna”With shared ownership of the ‘Queen Of Pop’ title, Beyoncé & Madonna stand as two of the only entertainers to enjoy Pop superstardom and critical praise. So, in acknowledging her competitor’s outstanding run in the industry, Beyoncé has praised the 'Evita' star in her spread with 'The Gentlewoman', opening up on why she feels the world needs more women like her. Read below… On the icon, B shared: “When I recorded 4, I decided it’s OK. I’m going to be independent. I just have memories of when there was no air conditioning in the new building and we didn’t have an office, and it was like camping. It was like, ‘If you want to be a part of this, you got to grind it out.’ It’s a different level of commitment, because it comes from love and respect, and that’s how I try to lead. I think about Madonna and how she took all of the great things she achieved an started the label and developed other artists. But there are not enough of those women.”“Now I’m controlling my content, controlling my brand and archiving it for my daughter and making sure she has it and she respects it. You see Puffy and you see my husband and you see these male artists that become moguls, and the female artists might become legends, but there’s not enough of us that become moguls. And I think there are many ways to get there.”Source.ThatGrapeJuice

Madonna Leads 2013 Top 40 Money Makers! Concerts make up 68.9% of revenue for the 40 artists on Billboard's Moneymakers list, which tallies artists' annual earnings. Remove Adele and Taylor Swift, both of whom didn't earn any U.S. touring income in 2012, and the average increases to 72.5%-a figure on par with the 72.6% in 2010 and the 68.3% that touring represented in 2011. Madonna tops the 2012 list, in part because 93.5% of her total revenue came from concerts. Bruce Springsteen, a close second, earned 92% of his revenue from live shows. Thanks largely to her blockbuster MDNA tour, the Queen of Pop reigns at No. 1 on the Moneymakers list for a second time. (She first crowned the tally for earnings in 2008.) MDNA was last year's -biggest tour ($305 million gross), and the No. 10 top-grossing trek of all time. The 88-date tour earned Madonna an estimated $32 million in 2012. The globetrotting tour also supported her MDNA album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and generated $1.5 million in physical and digital album sales for the artist. Her first studio release under a 360 deal with Live Nation, MDNA was released and promoted through Interscope, with U.S. sales buoyed by a promotion in which tour ticket buyers had an option of receiving the album as part of their purchase. Retro Rewind: Madonna Showcases Best Vocal Performance Yet At 1991 Academy AwardsHollywood’s buzz for the 2013 Academy Awards is in high gear, but as ever, That Grape Juice loves to stroll down memory lane to salute the best of performances past. This year we tip our hats to the 1991 performance of ‘Sooner Or Later’ by Queen of Pop Madonna. The pop vixen, accompanied by date/King of Pop Michael Jackson, took on the task of performing the number from her flop film ‘thingy Tracy’. A film that inversely spawned her biggest and (arguably) most iconic music hit to date – ‘Vogue’. Regardless, the performance saw Madge pay an updated, post- ‘Material Girl’ (video) homage to idol Marilyn Monroe while Jackson, amongst other high profile onlookers, spectated what few would believe was an awesome vocal showcase from the songstress. Despite being known mostly for racy on air antics and questionable vocal skills prior, the showing saw the diva belting and sustaining notes with a passion and control rarely demonstrated in her previous hits. Minus her normal troop of dancers, Madge stood center stage with a microphone and mink sole and stole the show (despite her nerves getting the best of her in parts). Press ‘PLAY’ above and see one of the many steps Miss Madonna took to cement her name beside Michael’s as pop’s reigning royalty. P.S. – We’d love more of these vocal show-stoppers from Madge before retirement! ThatGrapeJuice

Madonna & Nicki Minaj Boost Live Nation Revenue To $5.8 BillionIn the last year, the company’s revenue rose by 8.1% to bring its combined revenue to $5.8 billion, while its operating income jumped by 4.8% to $459 million- helped in part mostly by Madonna’s ‘MDNA Tour’ and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday Tour,’ which was the icing on the cake. Generated by a boost in concert ticket sales, sponsorship and advertising revenue, the company did so in the face of the decline of North American concerts (down 3.7%) but a rise in international concerts. A rise, to the tune of 16.8 million attendees to be precise. One of these shows, being the Nicki’s ‘Pink’ outing, which served 41 shows across Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. A tour, that proved so successful that demand saw the Rapper launch a second world tour within the same year, billed the ‘Pink Friday: Reloaded Tour’. Boasting three legs, the show generated a cool $1,116,140 from a single night played at London’s 02 Arena which boasts a capacity of 20,000 seats- all of which sold out within hours of the tour’s tickets becoming available for purchase.
