Boasting tributes and performances by Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson, Halle Berry and LL Cool J, today saw footage from Ushers tribute to the icon surface online. A performance, which both showcases Usher’s skill as a vocalist and conviction as an entertainer- serving justice to Houston’s take on ’I Believe In You & Me’, originally released by The Four Tops in 1983. Enjoy below… Though we’re a little disappointed he missed some of the cut’s higher notes, Usher’s tone was impeccable as far as we’re concerned. New Song: Whitney Houston – ‘Never Give Up’The Voice lives on. Whitney Houston may be gone in the flesh, yet the late great legend remains ever-enduring on ‘I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston’. Due on November 19th, the retrospective set features many of the star’s classic hits, as well as new cut ‘Never Give Up’ – which premiered moments ago. Produced by Jermaine Dupri, the track is believed to have been recorded during the studio sessions for Houston’s Platinum selling “final” album ‘I Look To You’. Take a listen below… Like much of Whitney’s newer material, ‘Never Give Up’ highlights the potential embedded in her “new voice”. Sure, years of hardship had shaved a noticeable amount of horse-power off of her range, yet the richness in the texture and tone of her vocal cannot be denied. A solidly produced mid-tempo, which makes for a bittersweet listen. For in many ways, we wish someone had sung these lyrics to Whitney herself before tragedy struck. Still, there’s no point wallowing in the “shoulda, woulda, coulda’s”. Greatness doesn’t die, it lives on and inspires. ThatGrapeJuice

Must-See: Heather Headley Sings Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ At ‘Royal Variety’The untimely passing of Whitney Houston in February has opened the floodgates to a sea of vocal tributes – some better than others. Yet, with singer Heather Headley gaining ample praise here in London for her role in the West End adaptation of ‘The Bodyguard’, it was all but inevitable that her performance of ‘I Will Always Love You’ at the 2012 Royal Variety Performance was be a show-stopper and oh did the Trinidadian-American deliver. Watch below as Headley soars to lofty heights with Houston’s signature hit below… Yes, yes, and yes! Long a supporter of Headley’s talent ( ‘In My Mind’ is an essential listen. Essential), yours truly knew she’d score a home run. A refreshing take on the song, Headley’s interpretation served up just enough of what we love of Whitney’s version, while garnishing it with runs, trills, and vocal frills that made it her own. A grand performance on the grandest of stages. ThatGrapeJuice

Whitney Houston was the "top trending" search of the year, according to Google Inc.'s year-end "zeitgeist" report. Google's 12th annual roundup is "an in-depth look at the spirit of the times as seen through the billions of searches on Google over the past year," the company said in a blog post Wednesday. Whitney Houston's Mom Has Words for Bobby Brown in New Book In "Remembering Whitney," the mother of the late Whitney Houston writes that from the start she had doubted whether Bobby Brown was right for her daughter. And she thinks that Whitney might not have ended up so "deep" into drugs had they not stayed together. "I do believe her life would have turned out differently," Cissy Houston writes. "It would have been easier for her to get sober and stay sober. Instead she was with someone who, like her, wanted to party. To me, he never seemed to be a help to her in the way she needed."During a recent telephone interview, Houston said she has no contact with Brown and didn't see any reason to, not even concerning her granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina. She reaffirmed her comments in the book that Whitney Houston would have been better off without him. "How would you like it if he had anything to do with your daughter?" she asked. Houston said she wanted the book published so the world would not believe the worst about her daughter. Cissy Houston, herself an accomplished soul and gospel singer who has performed with Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin, describes Whitney as a transcendent talent and vivacious and generous person known affectionately by her childhood nickname, "Nippy." But she acknowledges in the book that her daughter could be "mean" and "difficult" and questions at times how well she knew her. Source

Whitney Houston: One Year Later In the year since the sudden passing of Whitney Houston, just 24 hours before the 2012 Grammy Awards, the powerhouse diva has sold more than 2 million albums and 4.3 million tracks, according Nielsen SoundScan. Billboard estimates the revenue going to the Houston estate from recording, publishing and radio airplay to be $3.8 million. Houston's death drove last year's Grammys to the second-highest-rated telecast ever, and prompted an outpouring of public grief. Aside from a November CBS TV special, "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston," that featured performances from Celine Dion and Jennifer Hudson, the estate chose to take its time with her properties. Houston estate attorney Kenny Meiselas of Grubman Indursky Shire & Meiselas says the intention wasn't to make a quick buck through renewed interest in the star. "The focus, especially during the difficult and emotional first year for the family, was to make sure anything done was to be consistent with the Whitney Houston legacy," says Meiselas, who also advises Usher and Nicki Minaj.
