Adele's '21' Hits 15th Week at No. 1 On BillboardAdele's "21" album hangs in for a whopping 15th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 124,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan (down 14%). It's the only title to move over 100,000 this week, as the No. 2 set, Drake's "Take Care," shifts 42,000 (down 41%). The last album to spend more weeks at No. 1 was the soundtrack to "Titanic,"which claimed 16 frames atop the list in 1998. Considering the scant number of albums that were released this week, "21" will likely nab a sweet 16th week at No. 1. Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Jan. 8, 2012) totaled 5.80 million units, down 25% compared to the sum last week (7.71 million) and up 7% compared to the comparable sales week of 2011 (5.44 million). Madonna Takes Time To Express Her Thoughts On AdeleLast week, Madonna finally aired out her thoughts on Pop rival Lady Gaga with a few not so kind words for the DIVA. Now, the ‘MDNA’ singer has weighed in on vocal powerhouse, Adele. According to The Mirror, Ciccone said: “I love Adele. I think she’s amazing and has an *incredible voice. She impresses me most out of the new artists today.”Looks like Adele has the Queens seal of approval... for now at least. Source

Adele Ties 'Titanic's' No. 1 Run Atop Billboard 200 ChartsAdele's '21' spends its 16th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (104,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan; down 16%). Its reign is the longest since the "Titanic" soundtrack also earned 16 weeks at No. 1 in 1998. Since SoundScan's sales data began powering the Billboard 200 tally in May of 1991, '21' is one of only five sets to notch at least 16 weeks atop the list. Aside from '21' and "Titanic," the other three are: the Whitney Houston-driven soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" (20 weeks in 1992-1993), Garth Brooks' 'Ropin' the Wind"' (18 in 1991-1992) and Billy Ray Cyrus' 'Some Gave All' had 17 in 1992. In the Billboard 200 chart's nearly 56-year history, '21' becomes only the 20th album to score at least 16 weeks at No. 1. And with 104,000 sold last week, '21' notches its 33rd week of 100,000-plus sales. The last album to do so was Usher's 'Confessions,' which also racked 33 stanzas of 100,000 sales in 2004-2005. Adele Will Make First Post-Surgery Performance At GrammysMusic's biggest night was already a big night for Adele: She's nominated in six categories – a career high, and Kanye West only has her outnumbered by a single nod. But the 2012 Grammy Awards represents another special milestone for the bluesy Brit with the powerhouse voice. Just two months after she underwent throat surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal chord, Adele will return to the stage for the first time since announcing the cancelation of her North American tour. "Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys,"Adele, who's currently dating former financier Simon Konecki, Tweeted Tuesday. "It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait."The singer, whose tunes about heartbreak and healing have fueled her fame, calls the Feb. 12th performance "an absolute honor.""For it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-wracking," she says in a statement. "But what a way to get back into it all."Source

Adele Atop Hot 100, But Kelly Clarkson Getting 'Stronger' at No. 2Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" spends a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, just holding off a furious push from Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)," which bounds from No. 8 to No. 2. As Adele's set "21" leads the Billboard 200 album chart for an 18th week, "Fire" tallies a second frame atop the Hot 100, fueled largely by its 5-4 advance on the Radio Songs chart (118 million audience impressions, up 12%, according to Nielsen BDS). Clarkson's "Stronger" is aptly titled, as the second single from her album "Stronger" vaults 8-2 with top Digital Gainer honors. The song surges by 29% to 225,000 downloads sold and ascends 3-1 on Digital Songs, marking Clarkson's second leader on the sales ranking. Her "My Life Would Suck Without You" spent two weeks at No. 1 on Digital Songs three years ago this month. Source

Will Kelly Clarkson Dethrone Adele on Billboard's Hot 100?Kelly Clarkson‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” rockets to No. 2 on this week’s Hot 100, narrowly missing out on the top spot thanks to the almighty Adele and her latest monster hit “Set Fire to the Rain.”The power of Adele just stopped Lana Del Rey’s 'Born to Die' from topping the Billboard 200, and now Kelly is suffering the same fate, but unlike Lana, Kelly still has a fighting chance at nabbing that No. 1 spot. The biggest wedge between Kelly and that No.1 right now is airplay. While “Stronger” was the top selling digital song this week with 225,000 copies, “Set Fire to the Rain” still managed to cling to the top off of strong airplay. Kelly’s making rapid gains at radio, but so is Adele, and she’s already much further ahead, so Kelly’s going to need those big digital sales if she wants “Stronger” to become her third chart topping single. Karl Lagerfeld Apologizes For Adele "Fat" RemarkChanel designer Karl Lagerfeld is stitching up an apology after a remark about Adele's weight drew fashion world backlash. Adele Covers Latest Issue of Vogue Magazine Adele swept Sunday's Grammy Awards with six gramophones, but her big win isn't inspiring her to rush back into the studio. "I am f–––––– off for four or five years," she tells Vogue in its March issue. "If I am constantly working, my relationships fail. So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record and be in love and be happy ... I won't come out with new music until it's better than 21." The current love Adele, 23, refers to is former investment banker Simon Konecki, 37. "He's wonderful," she gushes of her beau, CEO of charity Drop4Drop. "And he's proud of me, but he [doesn't] care about what I do or what other people think. He looks after me. I don't think I would have gotten through the recovery for my surgery if it hadn't been for him." And luckily for Konecki, the songstress boasts that she's "wifey material." "I am attentive," she says. "I will do anything for my man. I am a good cook. I'm funny."And most importantly, she adds, " always want to have sex. Most girls don't!"
The Adele people know through her music is somber, but she says she's actually quite upbeat and optimistic, refusing to let fans hear her sad side anymore.
"I'm never writing a breakup record again, by the way," she tells the magazine. "I'm done with being a bitter witch."

Adele's '21' Hits 20th Week at No. 1 On Billboard Thanks to a Grammy Awards-fueled gain, Adele's "21" album beats out Van Halen's new "A Different Kind of Truth" for the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 chart. Adele's "21" sold 237,000 in the week that ended on Feb. 12th (the day of the Grammys) posting a gain of 95%. Van Halen's "A Different Kind of Truth" arrives in the No. 2 position with 187,000. Adele won six Grammy trophies on the Sunday night ceremony, including album, record and song of the year, and performed on the broadcast. It was her first stage performance since undergoing throat surgery last year. With 20 weeks at No. 1, it marks the longest run at the top of the chart since "The Bodyguard" spent 20 weeks at No. 1 in 1992-1993. It's quite likely "21" will easily net a 21st frame atop the tally next week, once a full week of Grammy impact is felt. Source

The Story Behind Adele’s ‘Platinum’ Locks Adele’s lighter look (she used to rock a deep reddish hue) is the handiwork of colorist Lucy Holbrook at the Daniel Galvin salon in London. “We decided to color Adele’s hair a honey-colored blonde as it suited her complexion and really brought out the color of her eyes,” she explains. “It was important to elect a color with plenty of depth to complement the bouncy voluminous styles that she favors.”Lino Carbosiero, the salon’s creative director, was responsible for those Veronica Lake waves. “We made Adele’s hair shoulder-length and cut a long layer through the back so as to give her a bit of swing and some natural movement,” he explains. “We wanted to create an old classic with a modern twist.”Source

Adele's '21' Set for 21st Week at No. 1 & '19' to Be Top 5 on Billboard! Adele's '21' album is going to celebrate its first year on the Billboard 200 chart in grand style. Fresh off her six Grammy Award wins on Sunday night, '21' is on course to sell between 500,000 to 600,000 copies by week's end on Sunday, Feb. 19th. Next week will mark the set's 52nd week on the list and it should easily rack up a 21st frame at No. 1. It could earn the biggest sales week for any album since Drake's "Take Care" debuted with 631,000 on the chart dated Dec. 3, 2011 according to Nielsen SoundScan. Even better - it will be '21's' biggest sales week, period. It's highest week came over the Christmas holiday, when it shifted 399,000. Adele's first album, '19,' is also selling well, and should move into the top five on the Billboard 200 next week. Source

Adele's '21' Hits 21st Week at No. 1; Sells 730,000 Post-GrammysAdele's "21" album hits a number of major milestones this week on the Billboard 200 chart, as it basks in the glow of the British DIVA's multiple Grammy Award wins on Feb. 12th. The album sold 730,000 copies in the U.S. last week (ending Feb. 19) according to Nielsen SoundScan -- up a whopping 207%. It spends a 21st week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It is the biggest sales week for any album since Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" debuted at No. 1 with 964,000 on the chart dated Sept. 17, 2011. 730,000 is also the largest week for "21." More impressively, the last time a non-debuting album sold more than "21" did this past week was on the chart dated Jan. 5, 2008. That was when Josh Groban's "Noel" album moved 757,000 copies over the busy Christmas week of 2007. Source
