Adele: The New "It Girl" In Pop Music Around The World Now certified 10x Platinum in the UK and moving more than 8.81 million copies around the globe, Adele's "21" album is one of the world's highest and fastest selling albums in modern memory. The follow up to the Grammy winning "19," Adele's latest effort has seen her go from just another staple in Brit Pop foreign markets, to the world's most critically acclaimed artist in last five years. Averaging with sales of 200,000 units sold worldwide per chart week, XL Recordings' strategy of aiming the LP at the middle aged mother unable to download music illegally has paid off ¨C quite literally. For they are now expecting the project to receive Diamond certification in less than a month's time. Successfully creating her own unique sound by seasoning mid-tempo Pop with a dose of Contemporary Soul, Adele has gone on to inspire the work of artists she herself grew up listening to. From Beyonce to Christina Aguilera. Source

Adele's "Someone Like You" FINALLY Hitting the U.S. Charts! Adele’s performance of “Someone Like You” at Sunday’s MTV VMAs has sent the song soaring on US iTunes, with the tearjerker dethroning Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” to top the chart. The digital boost will come in handy for the ballad, which is rapidly climbing at both radio (rises 34-24 on this week’s top Forty Airplay chart) and on the Hot 100 (up 34-24). While America is just catching onto “Someone Like You” now, the song’s already a double-Platinum chart-topping hit in Australia, and it’s currently the highest-selling UK single of 2011. It’s hard to fathom that Adele’s sophomore album '21' has already sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. and spent 12 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, but is only just now moving onto its second single. The first single, of course, is the monster smash “Rolling in the Deep”, which spent seven weeks at the top of the Hot 100 and is just shy of hitting U.S. sales of five million copies. Now that “Someone Like You” is gaining in all areas, Adele could very well be looking at her next American mega-hit.

Adele Talks Stage Fright: "I Puke Quite a Lot" Adele has come clean to British Vogue about how she deals with pre-show jitters. "I puke quite a lot before going onstage, though never actually on the stage" confessed the 22-year old singer. "But then... I sh*t myself before everything... the bigger the freak-out, the more I enjoy the show!"The "Rolling in the Deep" songstress had previously discussed her performance anxiety with Rolling Stone, via her cover story last April. Among her worst bouts included a concert in Amsterdam, where she attempted to escape the venue through a fire exit just before taking the stage. Despite her personal inhibitions, Adele has been acclaimed for her impassioned live performances, most recently, a poignant rendition of her piano ballad, "Someone Like You" before a national television audience at the MTV Video Music Awards August 28th. Adele Makes Billboard Hot 100 History With "Someone Like You"With Adele's leap from No. 19 to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with "Someone Like You," the singer achieves the biggest jump to No. 1 in the chart's 53-year history that wasn't spurred by the release of a single. Every other larger vault to No. 1 in Hot 100 history came as a result of a single arriving to the market. That includes the chart's greatest jump, Kelly Clarkson's 97-1 leap in 2009 with "My Life Would Suck Without You" or what was the tally's biggest climb until 2002: the Beatles' 27-1 rise with "Can't Buy Me Love" in 1964. "Someone," on the other hand, zoomed to No. 1 thanks to buzz generated by Adele's MTV Video Music Awards performance on Aug. 28. The song, her second No. 1, was released to digital retailers on Feb. 22 as a track on her XL/Columbia "21" album, which arrived the same day. Source

These sale totals are a feat that we haven't seen since the 90's from fellow DIVAS such as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston! Big congratulations to Adele! Source
